HOW BECOMING IS THE DIVINE SELF
Charles Asher HOW BECOMING IS THE DIVINE SELF Imagine, if you will, part of the wider Jungian community, are gathered together in the basement of a Lutheran church. It could be a Presbyterian church as well. It could be, for that matter, just about any mainstream American church. They are going to dine together, and hear an evening talk as a way of preparing to fall asleep, some sooner than later. Someone, being didactic and commenting on the surroundings, says that the church has been historically symbolized as a ship tossed on the rough seas of life. Another adds, “So here we are - below deck.” A titter of laughter follows. More wine is poured, and thoughtfully sipped by all. The ship begins to roll. It was some such vision of a crew below deck that prompted Herman Melville in the classic, Moby Dick, to write of Ahab, the vengeful captain of the Pequod, Some considerating touch of humanity was in him; for at times like these, he usually abstained from patrolling the quart...

Active Children are not wild; they just need more structure!
Art therapists working with kids with ADHD believe that structure, boundaries, and compliments on achievements are of importance in the treatment of these kids. Due to lack of the aforementioned pieces in their lives, most of the time kids with ADHD experience an excessive amount of negative feedback at school and at home, from teachers, parents, friends, and siblings, which only leads to develop a negative self-image and low self-esteem... You love the party lifestyle but now it is has gotten out of hand. It is affecting you professionally and personally. The paparazzi can be quite unforgiving by posting negative pictures, negative comments and stories about a bad night on the town or a botched performance. Maybe you are in the middle of a tour or filming for a movie and can’t take the time away from your busy life to check into a treatment program. Maybe you simply don’t want to go. Using Tools for Building Strength
When I work with people in therapy I introduce skills which they can use at home, in order to build confidence, strength and resiliency.
I never know for sure which tools will click with a person, so I am patient and persistent in offering as many as possible, so that maybe a practice will develop for the person at home. If one thing doesnt work, I offer another.
When people start to practice breathing, meditation, yoga nidra or any form of inner reflection process, they invariably get better faster. Just taking the few minutes to turn inward with a process which is positive, is so refreshing. People need to feel that they can manage themselves and their own emotions and the skill building is very empowering in this process.
I am very encouraging and believe in your capacity for change. No one wants to be stuck, its just a matter of finding how to get unstuck. I am an expert at this and am very proactive in ensuring that you can find ways to get better.
Being Grateful Pays Off!
For many families, these have not been the best of times. But cultivating gratitude when times are hard can be one of the best things we can do for ourselves and those we love.
Being Grateful Pays Off
Research shows that, relative to people who don’t pay special attention to expressing gratitude,
Grateful people are happier. They have positive feelings more frequently and more strongly. They talk about their lives with a greater sense of satisfaction and optimism. They have lower levels of depression and less stress. They are more likely to make progress toward important personal goals.
Grateful people are healthier. When people start focusing on expressing gratitude, the amount of time they spend exercising goes up. They sleep longer and their sleep is more restful. They have more vitality, and fewer physical problems.
Grateful people get more of what they want from life. People who focus on gratitude are more likely to make progress toward important personal go...
Truly Savoring Happiness
Certainly this is a beautiful time of year: Flowers blooming, grass growing, trees leafed out. Beauty can exist in so many forms. Some would say a work of art or a sunset. Beauty exists within all of us if we learn to utilize all of our senses. For example, the smell of lilacs in May or Locust tress in early June. Or the sound of a beautiful piece of music, the touch of a loved one or the hug of a child. This is exactly what i ask of my clients for our hypnosis sessions. Make a vivid image in your mind and think of a time in your life when you were truly happy. Maybe a day at the beach or a first date or a birthday party. Now use all your senses to make it come to life: What did you see? what did you hear? what did you feel or smell or taste? Be as specific as possible. If you think in these terms your mind can be tricked into believing you are actually there and you can savor the moment and be truly happy.

The Boy and the Dragons...Part Two
(Author’s note: This is part two of a two-part blog entry, that began about three weeks ago.)
...But the equanimity did not last. There was dissonance and pain and strange discordance between the Boy and his wife. And it would not go away. And it got worse. The boy screamed in pain and sorrow. The life he had known for twenty-five years was no more. He looked up and saw the dragon of impermanence. He looked out and saw that he was no longer married. He look over and saw that his children no longer lived with him. The boy remembered sitting on the front porch, many years ago, with his family, all together and giggling.
Repeated visits from the dragons of impermanence and equanimity now began to take on blurred boundaries. Loss and stability overlapped and threatened to take the Boy’s memory of either to the brink of an abyss. Why were the dragons still coming? He wished they would both leave him in peace. The boy became bitter and resentful. He ceased to love. He forgot th...
