Robert W. Poynter, III Practice Description
I work with pre-teens, adolescents, adults, couples, individuals, and groups. While working from a mindfulness-based approach, I incorporate a variety of techniques and interventions that reflect the teachings and disciplines from Eastern and Western Philosophies. I am trained and have experience with relaxation therapy, meditation, guided imagery, focusing technique, and hypnotherapy. I assist individuals to "let go" of their automatic defenses and confront their inner struggles while guiding them towards understanding and self-acceptance. I help individuals gain more control of their lives while creating a safe and trusting environment for individuals to fully express themselves. My intuition and sensitivity to emotions has helped shape my empathic understanding of others. I am very gentle with my approach, yet direct when my intuition informs me.
