Linda Marks Practice Description
I practice Emotional-Kinesthetic Psychotherapy (EKP), a heart-centered, psychospiritual method of body psychotherapy. Building on a foundation of emotional safety, my work incorporates meditation, attending to emotional currents and body sensations, grounding, facilitated body-centered healing work, coaching, relational dialogue and touch with permission to facilitate emotional work on a body level. So much of our experience is non-verbal and felt. Body psychotherapy allows us to go deeper than words, to the heart of the matter. What calls our attention, needs our attention, both in our bodies and in our lives. Learning to listen to our hearts empowers our lives. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, families and groups of all ages from pre-teen to elderly. Specialties include relationship counseling, healing from trauma, anxiety and depression, stress management, emotional roots of physical illness, pain management, loss and grief, parenting, including dealing with bullying issues, sexuality and spirituality, gender and identity issues, GLBT and Poly issues, money empowerment, addictions, developing and realizing vision, meaningful work, coaching and mediation. I have been a pioneer in my field, having co-founded the first state body psychotherapy professional association in the US in 1988. I have published 2 books and hundreds of articles. I write a monthly e-newsletter, train body psychotherapists using an apprenticeship model, and lead Community As Healer groups and workshops. I believe health care should be accessible to those who need it. I am a professional singer/songwriter and cabaret singer, so I really enjoy helping people find their voice--both at the most essential level (voice defines and expresses who we truly are) and in terms of self-expression, including singing.
