Marcia Simon Practice Description
My practice is a wonderful combination of children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have advanced training and years of experience working with children and adolescents.
I enjoy couples therapy , and it is wonderful to see the spark come back to a relationship that might otherwise fall apart. As our society changes, the way problems are presented also changes. I am especially intrigued by addictions which have developed via the computer, and the affect on the lives of couples and individuals. Infidelity sometimes becomes the issue.
I have had special training in family therapy through the years, starting with Virginia Satir and continuing to gain knowledge, for example, thinking of the family as a social system. Dysfunctional families are a special interest of mine, as there is so much one can do to change the process. I am familiar with the special problems of blended and adoptive families.
I have skill in helping children, adolescents, and adults deal with depression and anxiety, panic reactions, discomfort in social situations, loss and grief, compulsive disorders, and phobias. I help you get unstuck from self-defeating behavior that keeps you from living your life fully. Another special interest is helping creative people, such as artists or writers, who become blocked from the creative process.
I help those with eating problems, including anorexia and bullimea.
It is so satisfying to be in a profession that helps those in emotional pain who wish to change patterns in their lives which do not work for them. I cannot imagine a more worthy goal.
