Mica Graves, MA, Therapist

Therapy is hard, but it can also be fun.

It is hard to take an honest look at ourselves, to make sense of what we have created and what has happened to us. Yet doing so gives us freedom to create new possibilities.

I invite you to experience something powerful, interactive, and (yes!) even fun.

The mental health needs of Denver and its neighborhoods vary. It is the most educated city in the United States, which brings many social and economic benefits to the community, as well as unique challenges. The demographics most likely to hold a college degree are also the most likely to struggle with depression. Only a third of Denver residents report zero days per year of poor mental health, according to the Colorado Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System. Men between the ages of 30 and 55 are especially vulnerable to depression.

Denver has a robust infrastructure of therapists and counselors who specialize in treating depression for people from a range of backgrounds, so those struggling with mental pain have plenty of geographically convenient options for professionals who apply methodologies tailored to the needs of their patients.

Denver has a significant veteran population. The nearby Colorado Springs Veterans Trauma Court (VTC) is a modern program that specifically treats common mental health problems among veterans whose conditions contribute to legal troubles, such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries. The VTC is still relatively new, but it has had a noticeable impact on Denver's veterans. Even six months of treatment has a demonstrated effect on veterans' ability to improve socialization and impulse control.

Colorado hosts a number of programs that focus on mental health as a family issue. One such program, Consultation in Mental Health and Behavior (CLIMB), treats countless patients every year, working with pediatricians, schools, and family planning services to identify and address everything from childhood depression and developmental problems, to postpartum difficulties. CLIMB has been in service since 2005, helping families all over Denver have healthier, supportive households.

Many Denver area therapists and mental health organizations regularly raise awareness of health insurance packages that include mental health coverage to promote the understanding that mental health service can be accessible for people of all backgrounds. Therapy Tribe wishes to help you find mental health care in your area and in your coverage network easily.

Everyone deserves a life of happiness and good health, both mental and physical. Denver has a robust infrastructure for those struggling with everything from depression and PTSD, to social anxiety, and substance addiction. Reaching out is the first step. Learn about your mental health, the services available in your area, and the types of therapy that will be most beneficial for you and those you love. TherapyTribe is here to help.
