“Living with OCD can feel overwhelming, but change is possible. As a therapist who specializes in treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, I help clients learn practical, evidence-based tools to break free from the cycle of obsessions and compulsions. I use approaches like Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support meaningful progress, while creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your challenges at your own pace. Together, we’ll work toward reducing anxiety, regaining confidence, and building a life less controlled by OCD.”

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
Approach Description: I offer ACT and ERP for OCD How ACT Works for OCD Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) takes a different but complementary approach. Instead of fighting or trying to suppress intrusive thoughts, ACT teaches you to accept their presence without judgment. Through mindfulness and values-based exercises, you learn to observe thoughts as mental events—not threats—and to refocus your energy on what matters most to you. ACT helps you reduce the struggle with your mind and increase flexibility, so OCD no longer dictates your choices. How ERP Works for OCD Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the most researched and effective therapy for OCD. The process involves gradually facing the thoughts, images, or situations that trigger anxiety (the “exposure”) while resisting the urge to perform compulsions or avoidance behaviors (the “response prevention”). Over time, this helps the brain learn that feared outcomes are less likely to happen—or that anxiety naturally reduces without rituals. ERP retrains your mind and body to tolerate uncertainty and reduces the power OCD has over your life.

Aaron Van Beilen Practice Description
OCD can take many forms—persistent doubts, intrusive thoughts, repetitive checking, rituals, or a constant search for certainty. While these patterns can feel exhausting and isolating, you don’t have to face them alone. My practice is dedicated to supporting individuals struggling with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder through evidence-based, compassionate care. I specialize in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD, and often integrate approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness-Based strategies. These methods provide practical tools for reducing compulsions, changing your relationship with anxious thoughts, and increasing your ability to live in alignment with your values. In therapy, you’ll find a safe and nonjudgmental space to explore your experiences at your own pace. Together, we will create a structured plan that helps you gradually face fears, tolerate uncertainty, and build resilience. My goal is not only to reduce the intensity of OCD symptoms, but also to help you reclaim time, energy, and freedom in daily life. Whether you are experiencing contamination fears, checking rituals, intrusive harm thoughts, or “just right” compulsions, I will meet you with understanding and a clear path forward. Recovery is not about eliminating thoughts, but about learning to live fully without being controlled by them. With support and guidance, change is possible.
