My approach is creative, intuitive, and compassionate with a strong focus on neuroscience. I am a mindbody health practitioner and psychotherapist specializing in chronic pain/illness who also works with people overwhelmed by trauma, anxiety, or stress. In our culture of speed and stimulation, many of us struggle to disconnect from the outside noise and turn inward. Therapy first involves the process of slowing everything down so that we can begin to listen to, identify, and investigate how our nervous system is using emotional and physical sensations to communicate with us. Then from a place of deep understanding, we can begin to work with and shift these sensations. I view therapy as an explorative and investigative process. Join me in the journey of exploring your inner world.

Approach Description: In sessions, I work with the many layers and different parts of our mind. I focus on the immediate, surface layer of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors as well as delve deeper beneath conscious awareness. I like to get curious about how memories and past experiences influence you today. A key question I often return to is: How is this distressing pattern serving you? What might have occurred in your life to make this painful pattern an intelligent and protective strategy for coping with the realities of our harsh world? I am influenced by liberation psychology, which means that I view the challenges clients come in with as survival strategies for an unwell society rather than as symptoms of an unwell individual. I operate with the belief: it’s not what’s wrong with you; it’s what happened to you and how what happened to you was encoded into your brain, mind, body, and nervous system. I believe that you already have the clear sight, internal knowing, and resilience you need to navigate life’s most challenging experiences of physical and emotional pain. I am here to help you access, deepen, and utilize those resources.
