Treatment Approach

- Person-Centered
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
Approach Description: Style and general approach: I love the work I do as a therapist, and I want to be confident that my services are effective and a good fit for each client. For those reasons, I offer evidence-based therapies that have been shown to be efficacious for many people. And because clinical studies can't tell me much about my individual clients, I personalize each therapy for the unique human sitting across from me.
Orientation and common treatment threads: My therapeutic orientation is eclectic, meaning I flexibly use several different interventions depending on the needs of the person I'm working with. I like to understand the person I'm working with in their context, so I use a biopsychosocial model to account for experiences and factors that may be impacting the client in present day. Also, my style is heavily influenced by certain interventions, namely Motivational Interviewing (i.e., I see your agency and want to help you find your own path) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (i.e., I won't pretend to fix or take away your suffering, but I can show you better ways to live with it).
Referring out: Additionally, although I don't prescribe medication, I do see the value in medication use. I help my clients find a prescriber if they want one, and I connect clients to other specialty providers as needed. If I can't help you, I will find someone who can.
