People come to me in a vulnerable state, stressed, managing pain from a trauma, hurting from their relationships, riddled with anxiety or uncertain about their futures. When someone begins therapy, I prioritize understanding and helping the person discover their initial need whether it be support, validation, or hope that life can get better. I meet them here first. It may be difficult to believe, but the heaviness can be lifted, and change is possible. Online therapy makes me accessible despite distance, while saving you time on a commute, you don't have to get childcare, and you can stay in the comforts of your own home. Treatment Approach

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.

Dina Cuervo Practice Description
Depression, trauma and anxiety can be enduring and have a long lasting impact on your life. You may have tried to manage on your own up to this point and still have not found relief. I can help you navigate through your suffering while providing support and safety for you to be vulnerable and feel your emotions. I know you've been feeling them, but it's experiencing them in a different way to bring to light how you stay stuck. I'll help you make sense of your experience and draw attention to that added layer of self- judgment or self-doubt you may have that just increases your pain. I utilize my knowledge of neuroscience and expertise on the impact of trauma across the lifespan to create awareness of how the brain has creatively re-wired based on experiences so you could survive. Having this awareness provides new options for healing, solving problems, and the opportunity to adapt to changes in an optimal way. Since trauma lives in the body, brain, and mind, I incorporate modalities to address all of these areas. I’ve worked with countless youth and adults who have experienced various types of trauma including loss, violence, and abuse; also, intervening in crises resulting from trauma reactions. I’ve been trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address the impacts of trauma. My dissertation to complete my doctorate was on the effects of secondary trauma and I’ve presented in nationally conferences on the effects of trauma. I’ve led support groups for mass shooting survivors and people with secondary trauma. I truly believe that the therapeutic relationship is vital to the process of therapy so I commit to being authentically present with you, which basically means I am the same person in the therapy room as I am outside, and that includes my humor and sarcasm. I will meet you with curiosity, not assumptions or interpretations, about your unique experiences. Together we will focus on the present moment while exploring relevant factors from the past that are impacting your current life. My goal is to help you move in a meaningful direction to cultivate the life you want to live according to your hopes and values. I work in a group online therapy practice with a wonderful group of highly trained and experienced women with different specialties across different states.
