I am a clinical psychologist with over 17 years of experience in private practice specializing in the assessment and treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma & substance use disorders. Family stressors, relationship difficulties, life transitions and grief/loss are also concerns that I treat. At the beginning of my work with clients, I incorporate a biopsychosocial assessment to get a full picture of clients' symptoms, problem areas and strengths. I work collaboratively with clients to identify their goals and develop an individualized treatment plan. I have a supportive, relational style and an integrative approach incorporating EMDR, behavioral neuroscience, mindfulness practices, transpersonal psychology, Family Systems, Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
I specialize in trauma-informed treatment and have a passion for working with people who are struggling with trauma-related issues and PTSD. I have been certified in Eye Movement, Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a highly effective, specialized approach to working through trauma, since 2008. I have had success helping clients work through acute and chronic trauma symptoms due to accidents, deaths, loss, work incidents, medical issues, divorce, betrayal, abuse and abandonment. I also have advanced training working with adults who experienced childhood trauma, abuse & neglect.
In addition to being a licensed psychologist, I am a Certified Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor and have been working in the field of chemical dependency since 2003. I have several years of experience working in residential and outpatient treatment programs and continue to have a passion for working with individuals and loved ones who have been affected by substance abuse. In my private practice, I provide substance use evaluations and assessments of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, as well as therapy services.
Making the decision to pursue mental health treatment is an investment in your growth and healing. Finding a therapist with whom you connect can be a challenge, but very much worth the effort. I welcome the opportunity to be a part of your healing journey and look forward to assisting you in reaching your life goals and developing your full potential!
