I work with Christians, exclusively online, who are struggling with depression, anxiety or pornography addiction.
My guess is that you've already tried a bunch of things that didn't work, and now you're here. If we're being honest, this may be your last-ditch effort before throwing in the towel.
Depression has destroyed your joy. Anxiety is in place of a life that used to be filled with freedom. Silence and sadness are all that's left of a life that used to be happy. Time seems to pass you by, and every day turns into another lonely night with you left staring at the ceiling wondering how life got this way.
Now, you're looking for a therapist, but where do you turn?
Take a look around at other therapist profiles, and you'll likely see a lot of the same thing. People will use a bunch of nonsense words that don't make a whole lot of sense in the real world. You'll see stuff like, "I use treatment modalities that provide clients with...", or "I can help you reach goals by incorporating mindfulness techniques and cognitive reframing...".
Like, seriously, what the crap does that even mean?
You're not looking to be impressed by somebody who has a whole bunch of letters after their last name. We're all therapists and we all have the alphabet stuck on our business card. Nobody cares. What you care about are two things. 1) Can I trust you? And 2) Do you actually get me?
I've been at the bottom, and I know how it feels. But I also know the joy and peace you can find in freedom. I'm not here to impress you with degrees and certifications (which I certainly have); I'm here to help you find real, practical ways to get your life back.
