Erin Sizemore (She/Her)

Counselor/Therapist, LPC
 therapist: Erin Sizemore,
Houston, TX 77058
Texas
I am passionate about working with adults and teenagers to combat symptoms of depression, anxiety, and overall stress. My favorite thing about therapy is its ability to empower clients to take control of their own lives, so that it can look more like the life they really want to be living. I work collaboratively with my clients to help identify where our beliefs and patterns have come from, so that we can change them into tools that better serve our goals. I am really all about my clients being the experts in their own lives, and tailoring your therapy experience to be the best fit for you!

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
Approach Description: I am certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD - which means I believe our beliefs and thoughts about ourselves, others, and the world impact how we feel and respond. However, I also believe emotions play a big role in our day-to-day lives. So I also use therapies that help us to get in touch with and manage the emotions we experience, so that we can better understand those underlying beliefs.

Erin Sizemore Practice Description
Starting in 2022, I left a long-term job in a Community Mental Health agency to pursue my own private practice. I loved my job working for Harris County, but rules and regulations around Medicaid and legislature kept me from becoming the type of therapist that could really meet my clients right where they were. Since starting my own practice, I have mainly worked with young-er adults who are undergoing big life transitions. That seems to be where our residual symptoms pop up most! I have since expanded my own family and tackled some transitions of my own - which I feel gives me fresh perspective on how difficult life can feel during these seasons. My practice is all about authenticity and showing up fully-human. I believe that when we can present as our most authentic-selves, we can figure out how to live our most fulfilling lives.
