I'll create a caring environment for you to share whatever is on your mind and in your heart. Together we'll explore your concerns in their complexity. The more you discover, the more your awareness grows, allowing self-compassion and inner wisdom to emerge and be your ultimate guide.
I teach mindfulness techniques as tools to increase awareness and heal. When we lose connection with ourselves, we face anxiety, irritability, depression, unfulfilling relationships and negative behavior patterns. Mindfulness is paying attention to our present moment experiences with openness and curiosity and a willingness to be with what is. It is in the present moment where we can learn to connect to our bodies and environment, tend to our emotions, and truly take care of ourselves.
Individuals who have experienced trauma and abuse might find that traditional talk therapy is unable to fully heal them and or re-traumatizing. Our bodies store many of our emotional traumas, which can cause debilitating symptoms such as endlessly re-experiencing the traumatic event, numbness, nightmares, anger, depression and anxiety. I am trained in the Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM), which allows individuals to perceive their symptoms as biological rather than pathological. Clients learn how to take cues from their body, track their own nervous systems, and create a cognitive resource to cultivate feelings of well-being. These embodied skills empower clients to self-regulate their nervous system, reprocess traumatic events, and build a greater resiliency during stressful times.
