Hello All, my name is Jamila, I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). I graduated from Webster University with a Master’s in Counseling with a focus on mental health. I have worked with a wide variety of populations, from adolescents to adults. I specialize in Trauma and have trauma focused training. I also specialize in Substance Use Disorder, ADHD, anxiety and depression. I work with clients struggling with a variety of issues especially trauma and emotional intelligence. I meet my clients where they are and work from there. I assist with setting realistic goals and that focus on what the client wants and needs, I have worked extensively with people dealing with trauma and improving emotional intelligence. We take a look at how trauma has and is impacting your life. We work on resolving the trauma and examine ant deficits in emotional intelligence. We will also work on other symptoms for anxiety and depression. I take a client centered approach. I feel the therapeutic process is all about the client and their needs. I actively listen to what the clients wants and needs are. I feel we then collaborate on outlining a roadmap to to meeting these goals. I do not expect perfection. My motto is progress, not perfection.

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: My approach to therapy is client centered and solution focused. I meet clients where they are at. We work from there setting goals for what they would like to accomplish in therapy or coaching.
