Treatment Approach

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: My approach is gentle, relational, and body-based. I offer EMDR and holistic somatic therapy to help you process unresolved experiences, release long-held patterns, and reconnect with your inner resources. This work often involves slowing down, listening to your body’s cues, and following the wisdom that emerges in a safe, supportive environment. Rather than pushing for quick fixes, I focus on building a foundation of trust and safety, both with me and within yourself, so that change feels possible and sustainable. Together, we explore new ways of relating to your experiences, your body, and others, allowing space for healing, integration, and growth.

Therapy Sessions Kristin Sheehan Practice Description
In my virtual private practice, I specialize in supporting people whose lives have been shaped by chronic illness, chronic pain, and trauma. Many of my clients have faced experiences that leave both visible and invisible marks. This may include medical trauma, the deep imprint of complex and relational wounds, or attachment injuries that impact how they relate to themselves and others. Often, people seek me out when they feel exhausted from carrying so much on their own, isolated from others who truly understand, or stuck in patterns they can’t seem to change. Together, we work toward easing that constant sense of “pushing through” and begin building a different relationship with your body, your nervous system, and your story. Our sessions are grounded in a belief that healing is not just about reducing symptoms, it’s about cultivating safety, connection, and a sense of possibility. Using EMDR and holistic somatic therapy, we work at a pace that honors your capacity, allowing space to gently process the past while staying connected to the present. I integrate relational attunement, nervous system awareness, and trauma-informed practices to help you find new ways of being that feel sustainable and life-giving. My role is to offer a compassionate, grounded space where you can explore what’s been hard, discover what supports you, and start to orient toward the kind of life and relationships you want to create.
