She is passionate about her vocation and has gained experience both in Australia and overseas. She works with individual adults, couples, families, groups, adolescents and children. She has particular expertise working with people who are experiencing troubled relationships which includes married and de facto couples, parent child relationships and workplace conflict. She is highly skilled at assisting people to uncover the unhelpful thinking and behavioural styles that can lead to negative patterns of interaction and conflict. People can get stuck in these unpleasant and unhappy patterns of communication where the same tapes are replayed with no one hearing the other and each person wishing they could improve their relationship and return to the state of peace, harmony and happiness they once experienced.
Ruane has an eclectic repertoire of evidenced-based modalities and is able to tailor interventions to meet the unique needs of each client. These include all the evidenced based models such as CBT, IPT, DBT, Person Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solutions-Focussed Therapy, with specialist expertise in the systematic model to help couples with relationship problems. Ruane believes the most important aspect of successful therapy is forming a strong alliance with each client. She is able to achieve this through her natural warmth and empathy, her ability to tap into the underlying emotions precipitating the issue for the client, leading to a deep understanding of their individual needs, and works with her clients to empower them to move forward in a positive and confident way. She has a proven track record of assisting clients to achieve their dreams.
