Strom's Nomad therapy is unique. Nomadic meaning mobile and moving- I do encourage clients to move, walk, stretch, whatever movement is possible. Movement is very healing and good for the mind. In many ways your therapist, IS the therapy. I flow and am flexible, and yet am grounded and rooted in various evidence based methodologies and believe in finding a structure that we can create for you to move through and with the challenges, transitions, or relational issies you face. We work by enhancing understanding for what is going on, finding tools to handle and manage more effectively and ultimately find a life worth living fully .
Prior to 2020 COVID Pandemic, my practice was fully nomadic, after contact and intake, I came to you, I'd meet at your house, or we would meet in a place I had scouted out and checked for meeting spots, parking, and not a lot of other people and we would conduct the sessions outside. Often times if you have a dog, they were more than welcome with us. Family sessions were done in the home. So everyone was involved in your wellness if that applied. We would walk, and talk- and get exercise, some fresh air, and some fresh perspectives. In the warmer months, I have two paddle boards and in Folsom sessions were held on the floating office space and on the water. Bilateral stimulation by walking, and or paddling, as well as the comfort of a furry friend is part of trauma treatment, but also in stimulating our psychoneuro pathways for new ideas, and clearing out the old ways that no longer serve us.
Since COVID, and closures, currently my practice is primarily telemed- Calls and video. Clients also have text support options, for reaching out in crisis, or for guidance in skills. Clients who struggle with self harm and or suicidal ideation can find in the moment support wich can often eliminate unnecessary hospital stays.
Mental health and wellness is a right we all deserve to have- even if we don't know what that looks like or how to go about it. We have to start here and now, and where we are. Take the adventure. Make it yours.
