Childhood emotional neglect (CEN) can happen in families with loving parents who weren't there for their kids enough, and in abusive ones, too. It can lead to anxiety, depression, or trauma, and because these experiences are about what didn't happen, the wounds can be hard to see. That's why having guidance from an expert can make such a difference. Treatment with me works because I have extensive training from institutions like NYU and Columbia, but also because I draw from my own healing journey to know what actually works.

Approach Description: Unconditional positive regard is the cornerstone of how I approach my clients, and this means that I'll see you positively regardless of what you share with me. Too many of us who've experienced emotional neglect and/or abuse hold a limiting belief that we are fundamentally flawed, and that we're either unlovable or unworthy of the love we do get. That's why I use interventions aimed at increasing self-compassion, and decreasing shame and guilt. I also use body-based approaches aimed at addressing nervous system dysregulation, so that you can start to feel safer in your body.
