What has become clearer to me over the years is that we all have the ability to make changes in our lives - to move us in the direction we wish to go - but sometimes it can be difficult to know or understand the steps we need to take to get there. To create the changes we want to see and experience, we need to commit to doing the work which includes opening ourselves up to the possibility of shifting our mindset, like looking into a kaleidoscope. The first look into a kaleidoscope shows an intricate and layered world of colours and shapes, and with a twist of the mechanism, a brand new picture is created, bringing with it the prospect of new possibilities.

Our sessions will look to build confidence, self-awareness, and the ability to enrich the relationships within their lives.
I invite you to book a complimentary 15 minute consultation to discuss whether or not I can be of assistance to you in the situation you find yourself in.

Megan Hanrahan
Psychologist, M.C., Provisional Psychologist
My therapeutic approach is based on developing genuine connection with my clients. I strive to create a space that is empathetic and free of judgment in order for individuals to feel at ease sharing their stories. As someone with an anxious brain myself, I have always been passionate about understanding the complexities of the mind and how this interacts with mental health. I chose to become a therapist to continue that passion, but also in the hopes of helping others navigate the peaks and valleys of their own lives. The resilience and strength I see from my amazing clients inspires me and I feel privileged to be able to support them through their unique journeys.

If you've been thinking about talking with a professional about traumatic past experiences that still catch you off guard, or about anxiety, a difficult relationship, stress, anger, or mild depression, I can assist. I offer in-person counselling sessions in Calgary, Alberta (Kensington) or virtual counselling sessions across Alberta and Ontario. Sessions are available Monday to Friday, and all adults are welcome.
I've been in practice since 2009, when I led decision-making and anger management groups in Southern California. Since then I've worked mostly with individual professionals within my private practice Pine Tree Counselling & Psychotherapy and in contract with such organizations as Cleveland Clinic Canada and Homewood Health. My approach is primarily guided by cognitive behaviour therapy which looks at your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC, Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association), Counselling Therapist (Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta), Registered Psychotherapist (RP, College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario), and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP).
Prior to counselling, I managed market research projects at Ipsos-Reid, and prior to that I worked at the YMCA in fitness. Accordingly I have degrees in kinesiology, business (MBA), and Counselling Psychology (Master's).

Counsellor/Therapist, MSc, MBA, CCC
In my view, counselling therapy represents an extraordinary opportunity to take stock of who you are and what you want at this particular moment in your life. What is it that you find yourself dwelling upon these days? Which emotions are most colouring your sense of self, and your relationships? What possibilities are – or are not – currently available to you? And most importantly: how will you make use of the answers that you uncover, to become more essentially and courageously yourself? These are some of the questions that we might explore if we were to begin working together.
My particular approach to counselling is highly relational, integrative, and non-pathologising. I work with adult individuals who are experiencing a wide array of psychological challenges, including: attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), problematic anger, anxiety, depression, loneliness, men's issues, obsessive-compulsiveness (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), relationship difficulties, and/or work-related stress.
At the same time, I’m deeply passionate about working with individuals who have experienced “moral injury” (whether military or civilian), immigrant or expatriate challenges, sudden life transformation and existential crisis, LGBTQIA2S discrimination, non-monogamous relationship difficulties, and/or corporate/entrepreneurial workplace anxiety.

Psychologist, M.Sc. Counselling Psychology
What do you do when you are struggling or feeling lost and overwhelmed? How do you support yourself? For me, well-being comes from knowing that no matter what life throws at you, you can courageously and compassionately face it and give yourself what you need to get through it. It comes from knowing you have the strength and ability to cope with any uncertainty. When we know how to support ourselves, we can face and get through anything.

Psychologist, Mc(Psych), Registered Psychologist
It can feel incredibly overwhelming trying to choose the right therapist. The anxiety, sadness, loneliness or lack of control you may be experiencing can make it feel hard to even get through the day. You may be thinking you cannot possibility go on feeling and managing this way and need someone who will listen, understand and offer some effective solutions. Finding a psychologist that creates this type of comforting environment can be one of the most important first steps in therapy. I make every effort to compassionately hear your unique challenges and create a personalized goal and therapy plan to help you become the best version of yourself.

Broken Gold Counseling
Registered Social Worker, MACP, MSW, RSW
********I AM OFFERING A VIRTUAL 12 WEEK DBT SKILLS GROUP STARTING 21 SEPTEMBER 2023 FOR RESIDENTS OF AB AND ON. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED, PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR FURTHER DETAILS********
Life is a journey comprised of the choices we make. We all have the ability to change course at any time by making different choices. No one is stuck, and no one has to be a victim to their past, their mistakes or feel trapped by their behaviors. Even our mistakes or tragedies we have experienced, have the power to transform us in brilliant and beautiful ways, if we chose to take responsibility. My practice is based on the idea of Kintsukuroi. This is the Japanese art of pottery repair, in which broken pieces of pottery are mended using precious metals. The resulting piece is often more beautiful than it was before it was broken. Its cracks make it unique, and the shining way it has been mended now becomes a valuable feature.
I believe that difficult times do not have to break us, but can help us grow , and our cracks can become opportunities to mend ourselves back together in beautiful ways. Our cracks can be reminders that even broken things can still be golden.
Nakasha Ogbonna
Registered Social Worker, RSW
I am a dual province (Ontario & Alberta) registered social worker specializing in mental health. Before entering private practice, I served as the University of Calgary’s Mental Health Consultant where I was the primary on-campus therapeutic support for staff, faculty, and post doctorates. I now work in private practice supporting individuals, couples, families, and groups. I also have specialized training and experience working with first responders and their families in dealing with operational stress injuries. My breadth of experience includes work with patients accessing community public health as well as school aged youth in primary and secondary school divisions.
Life is hard enough. Therapy does not need to be overly stressful. For this reason I take a relaxed approach, infusing light humour while discussing your deepest thoughts and concerns. I aim for your time with me to be one of the best parts of your week, because it is where you know you can be your authentic self with a warm and non-judgemental supporter.
Therapy can work for anyone when there is a strong relationship between the client and therapist. For this reason I prioritize building a strong therapeutic partnership with my clients that is grounded on transparency, empathy, and unconditional support. Think of me as a GPS for your mind. You pick the destination and I’ll show you how to get there.
