Self Esteem

Lauren Rance

Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist (PsyD, LP)
Many of my clients who struggle with self-esteem feel inferior to other people. They may find themselves constantly comparing themselves to other people. They may struggle to manage eating habits and exercise and feel negatively about their bodies. I work with clients to understand the root of these struggles. We work together to create sustainable lifestyle habits and improved self-esteem.

Is self-doubt, negative thoughts about yourself, or worries about people's perceptions of you getting in your way of doing the things that you would like to do? Working on increasing self esteem in therapy can be incredibly helpful. Together, we will identify what stories you have about yourself that may be negatively impacting your confidence and self esteem and work to acknowledge the many strengths that you have.

Self Esteem

Hypnosis Silver Spring

Hypnotherapist, Hypnotherapist certified by International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association
I use a paradigm developed by Steve Andreas, that strengthens the QUALITIES (loveable, intelligent, kind, etc.) you KNOW you have and LIKE; then enables you to transform your "ambiguous" qualities - ones that you maybe have and maybe don't, or have SOME but not ALL of the time - into things you KNOW you have. Even qualities that you DON'T like about yourself can be transformed into their opposites. These qualities are the bulk of your SELF-CONCEPT, and be transforming them you end up having more and stronger qualities that you approve of and like - that is, self-esteem. We will also use Wholeness and standard hypnosis to work with the unconscious emotional issues that keep you from truly liking yourself - feelings of unworthiness, undeserving, or even self-loathing.

Self Esteem

Richard Scott, Ph.D.

Psychologist, Ph.D.
How we feel about ourselves often will influence how we see relationships, life satisfaction, and the world around us. When we see ourselves negatively, we tend to put ourselves down and only believe negative appraisals of who we are. Therapy can help challenge that tendency to be self-critical and only see our worst qualities and build a better understanding about our strengths, attributes, and positive characteristics. We can learn how to show ourselves kindness and compassion and this will help us be better people who are able to be resilient and confront the challenges we face in our lives.

Identity development and self-esteem development is an important component of any psychotherapy. I take an existential/humanistic and depth psychology approach when exploring these areas of development with clients.
