Anxiety and fears are natural and everybody has them. I help my clients understand how their mind and body experience anxiety. Anxiety can be thought based, emotion based, or both at the same time. With all clients we try to figure out which kind of anxiety they are experiencing so that we can then work to reduce their fear.

Persistent worries that easily get in the way of day to day functioning can prevent a person from going to work, from going out in public, and can result in having to live largely in agony.
If you have ever felt nervousness or jittery, seek constant reassurance, are having difficulty sleeping being kept up by worrying, find yourself to be more self-critical than average, or are hypersensitive, there is a good chance you might be struggling from anxiety.

Anxiety can feel like a crippling experience, but it no longer needs to control your life! I help people explore the roots of their anxiety, and teach them practical skills/tools for managing it. Anxiety does not have to be a life-sentence, and having the right tools can help you break free from the anxious thoughts and sensations that interfere with your life and ability to feel happy. I use a combination of approaches like CBT, Mindfulness, and Acceptance-Commitment therapy (ACT) to help you disarm the anxiety and return to a more peaceful and relaxed state of being. There is a lot of hope that you can reduce or even eliminate your anxiety, and my main goal is to help you do so.

Worry and nerves are normal feelings to experience, however when worry and nerves start to affect daily routines for extended periods, anxiety becomes problematic. People struggling with anxiety disorders especially fear the worst as it relates to employment, health, finances, and/or relationships. This fear is persistent despite the reality of the situation.

Anxiety is one of the most prevalent and challenging forms of human suffering. It can also vary in intensity from mild tension and apprehension to feelings of fear and terror. At times, feelings of pain and shame about anxiety may be so great that we may wish to die to escape. We also know that anxiety takes many different forms. For example, some people can have intense and sudden physical symptoms, known as panic attacks. Some people with social anxiety can become particularly concerned about social situations, fearing that people might see them as inadequate or inferior and, as a consequence, reject or avoid them. Anxiety is an important and essential emotion; however, when anxiety causes significant distress or when anxious behaviour impairs a person’s ability to function—when anxiety negatively affects a person’s life—we call this an anxiety disorder. As if feeling anxious and stressed were not enough, we can also become fearful of these emotions and try to suppress or avoid them, even becoming self-critical for feeling overly anxious. Together, we will work inwards to the root of anxiety and collaboratively manage the anxiety's intensity levels.
