Self-esteem is something everyone struggles with from time to time. My belief is that it comes from childhood messages from both environmental and caregiving factors. I am positive that through talking and working through these factors that patients can find relief and new perspectives on their self-esteem and self-worth

Self-esteem is a widely misunderstood concept. I often feel that enhancing an individual's self-efficacy (their perception of their competence) can be a much more effective approach to building self-esteem than other treatment models. If you feel you may experience poor self-esteem, please contact me.

Is self-doubt, negative thoughts about yourself, or worries about people's perceptions of you getting in your way of doing the things that you would like to do? Together, we will identify what stories you have about yourself that may be negatively impacting your confidence and self esteem and work to acknowledge the many strengths that you have.

Low self esteem and a poor self image, which can get to a point for some people of self-hatred, erodes your life. In spite of achievements, you never feel good enough, and can't feel truly at peace. Because poor self esteem is often a lifelong problem, it can be very hard to resolve on your own. It is often related to trauma in childhood. When I work with clients who struggle with low self esteem, I want to understand how they came to the belief that they are generally not good enough. We also will look at how habits of thought, feeling, behavior, and self care may be reinforcing a negative self image, and work on making changes so a positive self image can be reinforced instead.
