What is Mental Health?

One thing is for certain we all have mental health it refers to our cognitive, behavioral, and emotional well-being. It’s about how we think, feel, and behave. It is sometimes used as “mental health” to mean the absence of a mental disorder.

I Got Support But It Doesn’t Seem To Help Me! What Should I do?

It can be difficult to find treatment etc. that will help specifically you as its not a one size fits all. Different things help different people. It is important to be open minded and committed to different approaches to finding the right help and remain hopeful even when things don’t work out the way you wanted to at that time.

How Do I Prevent Mental Health Issues?Great question!

We all can be touched by mental health challenges. However, we can prevent such issues from becoming out of control to the point of mental illness by developing our wellbeing, building resilience, and seeking early professional help when symptoms arise so we can prevent it from becoming serious.

Is There A Cure For Mental Health Issues?

Again it is often helpful to find out what can help with the situation that you maybe facing. Talking to someone, counseling, medication, exercising, good sleep, nutrition can all help. However, in terms of someone having a mental illness unfortunately there is no cure, but there are lots of effective treatments available. Many people with mental illness recover and go on to live long and healthy lives.

What Causes Mental Health Issues?

Each and everyone of us can face mental health issues due to a stressful life situation, such as financial problems, the death of a loved one . Traumatic experiences, such as ongoing childhood abuse, neglect, assault or rape.

I’m Worried About My Mental Health! What Should I do?

If you’re concerned about your mental health, don’t hesitate to ask for help. You can speak with a general practitioner or make an appointment to with a mental health professional, psychologist, or a psychiatrist.

How Do I Know If I’m Unwell?

If your beliefs, thoughts, feelings or behaviors have significantly impacted your ability to function daily. Below are some symptoms to look out for:

  • Feeling sad or down.
  • Confused thinking or reduced ability to concentrate.
  • Excessive fears or worries, or extreme feelings of guilt.
  • Extreme mood changes of highs and lows.
  • Withdrawal from friends and activities.
  • Significant tiredness, low energy or problems sleeping.
  • Detachment from reality (delusions), paranoia or hallucinations
  • Inability to cope with daily problems or stress
  • Trouble understanding and relating to situations and to people

    I’m Worried About My Relative Mental Health! What Can I Do To Help Them

    You can’t force someone to do something unless that’s something that they want to do. Helping your loved one may depend on your relationship with them. I would suggest gently asking them what they want and gently encourage him/her to seek the appropriate support may be the best place to start.
