With the psychodynamic approach, the client will know the causes and roots that led him to his problem; for what it is necessary an in-depth analysis of the personality by putting greater focus on the current and past experiences. This will give the client the opportunity to build a new present and future understanding and identifying triggers and own emotions.
Tacit's main area of expertise is with clients who are wanting to address their Anxiety/Depression issues - we often teach classes focusing on ways to manage anxiety/depression effectively, and provide supports to family members who want to better understand how to help their loves ones who are struggling with these issues.
Treatment will start with education on how social anxiety works, then we will move towards targeting different aspects of social anxiety, such as mind reading, poor goal setting prior to entering a social situation and the tricky ruminating after a social event.
I approach the issue of Social Anxiety from an Adlerian perspective. As with all forms of anxiety I recognize this problem results from a feeling of being overwhelmed by stress. Together with my client, whether it's an adolescent, child (together with their family) or an adult, we use CBT and exposure therapy to help uncover mistakes in the private logic and shift to a more realistic way of viewing ourselves in a social situation. Perfectionism and other mistaken ideas are often at the heart of social anxiety. By challenging unhelpful and unrealistic ideas in an empathetic and supportive way we are able to redefine our view of self and others.
