Our Mission

From the start, TherapyTribe has been passionate about using the power of the internet to connect people in need. Our purpose is to help people find key mental health resources, like therapists, support groups and wellness tools, along with an overall sense of community.

In 2006 we began by offering our members safe, convenient, easy-to-navigate tribes that bring together people living with mental health conditions, addictions and illnesses. We believe that communicating, sharing and connecting with others in your community has a positive effect on your healing and your life.

Today, TherapyTribe is still a boutique, founder-led company, bringing together free health and wellness services for the community and practice tools for mental health professionals.

For People Looking for Help

  • Find a Therapist. Search thousands of licensed therapists, psychologists and counselors by location, specialty and treatment approach. Many offer online therapy across the states or provinces where they’re licensed. Searching is always free. Find a therapist
  • Smart Match. Not sure where to start? Pick the basics, like in-person or online, session type and how you’ll pay. Then describe what’s going on in your own words. You don’t need to know clinical terms: Smart Match looks for what you mean, not just the words you use, and compares it with how therapists describe their own work. AI helps with that matching behind the scenes. It doesn’t chat with you or give advice; it simply points you to licensed therapists who fit. It’s free, anonymous and takes about a minute. Get matched
  • Join The Tribe. The Tribe is our free peer support community, with nine sub-groups: AddictionTribe, AnxietyTribe, DepressionTribe, HIV/AIDSTribe, LGBTribe, MarriageFamilyTribe, OCDTribe, TeenTribe and WellnessTribe. For Therapists

  • Directory listing. A TherapyTribe membership includes two searchable office locations, an online therapy listing in every state or province where you’re licensed, featured therapist ads, city and specialty pages, and a therapist blog section. List your practice
  • Free therapist website. Members get a free website with hosting and SSL. It starts with baseline content from your listing, and you can choose from dozens of designs or create your own. Learn about free websites
  • Hire Us design service. Prefer to hand it off? For a one-time fee, a designer sets up your site for you: moving your content, adding images, creating a logo and advising on design and SEO. Read member testimonials
  • Teletherapy.io. In 2020 we launched Teletherapy.io, an affordable online therapy platform with video sessions, online booking, appointment reminders, paperless intake, therapy notes, payments and a secure client portal. It works for solo therapists and for practices with several clinicians and locations.

Our Story

Co-founders Ryan FitzGerald and Kristin FitzGerald have worked together since 2005, using their experience in software development, internet services and marketing to build technology that helps people. Their first project together was JumbledLetters, a social networking site for people with dyslexia.

In 2006 they founded WebTribes, Inc. and launched The Tribe, currently at more than 160,000 members. TherapyTribe followed in 2008, then free therapist websites and Teletherapy.io. WebTribes is based in San Marcos, California.
