TherapyTribe – Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 27, 2026

We take your privacy seriously and want you to feel comfortable using our services. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have regarding your information.

1. About This Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how WebTribes, Inc. (“TherapyTribe,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you interact with our services. It applies to:

  • Visitors to our therapist directory at www.therapytribe.com — anyone browsing therapist profiles, viewing articles or resources, or sending a message through a contact form. Visitors do not create accounts.
  • Listed Therapists — mental health professionals who maintain a paid listing on TherapyTribe through a member account.
  • Community Members of TheTribe Wellness Community at support.therapytribe.com — registered users who participate in our peer support communities, post content, and use our wellness tools.

Together, www.therapytribe.com and support.therapytribe.com are referred to in this Policy as the “Service.” By using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Important Information for European Users

If you are accessing the Service from within the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, please review the “Lawful Bases for Processing” and “Your Privacy Rights” sections below for information on how your personal data is processed and the rights you have.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

We collect information you give us directly. The information depends on how you use the Service:

  • Visitors: When you contact a therapist through a profile contact form, we collect your name, email address, the contents of your message, and any other information you choose to include. We may also collect information when you contact us directly through our contact form or by email or phone.
  • Listed Therapists: When you create a listing, we collect your name, professional credentials, license information, contact details, billing information (processed by our payment provider), photographs, biographical content, and any other information you submit as part of your profile.
  • Community Members: When you register an account at support.therapytribe.com, we collect your username, email address, password, and any profile information you choose to provide. Content you post in the Community — including blog posts, forum messages, chat messages, and wellness activity entries — may include personal information.

Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, we and our service providers automatically collect certain information about your device and how you interact with the Service. This information may include:

  • Your IP address and approximate location derived from it;
  • Browser type and version, device type, operating system, and screen resolution;
  • Pages viewed, time spent on pages, links clicked, referring and exit URLs, and other usage data;
  • Date and time of access.

We use this information to operate the Service, monitor performance, prevent fraud and abuse, and improve the Service over time. Where possible, we store this information in aggregated, anonymous form.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies (such as web beacons and pixels) to operate and improve the Service. Cookies fall into a few categories:

  • Strictly necessary cookies are required for parts of the Service to function — for example, to maintain your session if you log in as a Listed Therapist or Community Member.
  • Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the Service. We use Google Analytics for this purpose, which collects information such as pages viewed, time spent, and approximate location based on IP address.
  • Security cookies are used by Google reCAPTCHA to detect spam and abuse on contact forms (see “Google reCAPTCHA” below).

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may limit your ability to use parts of the Service. Disabling reCAPTCHA-related cookies may prevent you from submitting forms protected by reCAPTCHA.

Google reCAPTCHA

We use Google reCAPTCHA on certain forms — including therapist contact forms — to detect spam and abusive activity. When you interact with a form protected by reCAPTCHA, Google collects information from your browser and device, including:

  • Your IP address;
  • Browser, device, and operating system information;
  • Mouse movements, click patterns, and other interaction signals;
  • Cookies set by Google (including the _grecaptcha cookie).

This information is used solely for spam detection and security, not for advertising or profiling. Effective April 2, 2026, Google acts as our data processor with respect to reCAPTCHA, processing this information only on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions and the Google Cloud Data Processing Addendum.

If you decline cookies in your browser, reCAPTCHA may not function correctly, and you may not be able to submit forms protected by it.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To operate, maintain, and improve the Service, including monitoring effectiveness, content, and design;
  • To deliver messages from visitors to listed therapists and to enable communications between members;
  • To process payments for member subscriptions through our payment provider;
  • To monitor and analyze usage patterns and aggregate metrics such as total visitors, traffic, and demographic patterns;
  • To conduct system administration and troubleshoot technical issues;
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, spam, abuse, and security incidents;
  • To send administrative communications, transactional notices, and (where you have not opted out) updates about the Service;
  • To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from public authorities;
  • To enforce our Terms of Use and other policies and protect our legal rights and the rights of others.

4. How We Share Information

Personal Information

We do not rent or sell your personal information, and we do not share it with independent third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share personal information only as described below.

Service Providers

We share personal information with vendors and contractors who help us operate the Service. We limit what we share to what is reasonably necessary, and we require them to protect the information and use it only for the purposes for which we engaged them. Our service providers fall into the following categories:

  • Cloud hosting and infrastructure (e.g., Atlantic.net);
  • Payment processing (e.g., Braintree) — handles billing for Listed Therapist subscriptions;
  • Analytics (e.g., Google Analytics) — measures usage of the Service;
  • Bot detection and security (e.g., Google reCAPTCHA) — protects forms from spam and abuse.

If you would like more information on any of these categories or specific recipients, please contact us using the information at the end of this Policy.

Therapist Contact Forms

When a visitor sends a message to a therapist through a profile contact form, the message and the visitor’s name and email address are delivered directly to that therapist by email and stored in TherapyTribe’s secure message center, where the therapist may access them by logging in. Visitors do not have accounts and cannot view sent messages after submission.

Community Content

Content you post in TheTribe Wellness Community is visible to other community members based on the privacy and audience settings you choose for each post. Public posts may be indexed by search engines. Do not post information in the Community that you do not want others to see.

Aggregated and De-Identified Information

We may share aggregated or de-identified information — which cannot reasonably be used to identify you — with third parties for various purposes, including reporting, business analysis, and marketing.

Legal Requirements and Safety

We may disclose your information when we have a good-faith belief that doing so is necessary to: (a) comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; (b) enforce our Terms of Use or other agreements; (c) detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, or personal safety of TherapyTribe, our users, or others.

Where permitted by law, we will notify users before producing their personal information in response to law enforcement requests, except where (i) we are prohibited by law or court order from doing so, (ii) we have reason to believe the user’s account has been compromised, or (iii) prior notice would create a risk to safety.

Change of Control

If TherapyTribe is involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or transition of service to another provider, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice on the Service if such a transfer occurs and your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.

5. International Data Transfers

We primarily store information about you on servers located and operated within the United States. If you reside outside of the United States, we may transfer your information to, and process it in, the United States in order to provide the Service.

United States privacy laws may differ from, and may be less protective than, the laws in your country of residence. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

For transfers of personal data from the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland to the United States, we rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and the UK Extension and Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where applicable) as set forth by the U.S. Department of Commerce. For more information, visit the Data Privacy Framework website at https://www.dataprivacyframework.gov/.

6. Lawful Bases for Processing (EU/UK)

If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, we collect and process your personal data only where we have a lawful basis to do so. Our lawful bases include:

  • Legitimate interests — including operating and improving the Service, preventing fraud and abuse, and ensuring the security of our network and users — provided these interests are not overridden by your individual privacy interests.
  • Consent — where you have given consent for a specific purpose, such as receiving certain marketing communications. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Contract — where processing is necessary to perform a contract with you, such as providing a paid Listed Therapist subscription.
  • Legal obligation — where processing is necessary to comply with a legal obligation.

If you have questions about the legal basis for any specific processing, please contact us.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Rights Available to All Users

Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
  • Delete your personal information (sometimes called the “right to be forgotten”);
  • Port your information in a structured, commonly used format;
  • Restrict or object to certain processing of your personal information, including direct marketing;
  • Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent.

After you request deletion, we may not immediately remove residual copies from active servers or backup systems and may retain certain information for archiving, fraud prevention, analytics, legal obligations, or other legitimate purposes. We may decline to honor a request in specific situations, such as where the information is necessary to comply with a legal obligation or to defend a legal claim.

If a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, we may reject it or charge a reasonable fee, and we will inform you of the reasons.

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the following rights:

  • The right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and retain;
  • The right to request deletion of personal information we have collected, subject to certain exceptions;
  • The right to correct inaccurate personal information;
  • The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. TherapyTribe does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising;
  • The right to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger the right to limit;
  • The right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising any of these rights.

To exercise any of these rights, please use the contact information in the “How to Submit a Request” section below. We will respond to verifiable requests within forty-five (45) days, as required by law.

Residents of Other U.S. States

Residents of states with comprehensive consumer privacy laws — including but not limited to Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Iowa, Indiana, Tennessee, Delaware, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Maryland, and Minnesota — may have rights similar to those described above for California residents under their respective state laws. These rights generally include the right to access, correct, delete, and port personal information, as well as the right to opt out of targeted advertising or the sale of personal information.

TherapyTribe does not sell personal information and does not engage in targeted advertising as defined under these laws. To exercise any rights available to you under your state’s privacy law, please submit a request using the contact information in the “How to Submit a Request” section below. We will respond as required by applicable law.

8. How to Submit a Privacy Request

To exercise any of the rights described above, please submit your request to us using one of the methods below. Please do not submit the same request through multiple channels. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling your request.

If you are located in the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

9. Children’s Privacy

The TherapyTribe directory at www.therapytribe.com is intended for use by adults. TheTribe Wellness Community at support.therapytribe.com permits members who are at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us using the information above.

For Community Members between the ages of 13 and 18, we encourage parental or guardian involvement in account creation and ongoing participation. Parents and guardians who wish to review or request deletion of their minor child’s account or information may contact us using the information above.

10. Do Not Track

Some browsers transmit a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. Because there is no industry-standard interpretation of DNT signals, the Service does not currently respond to them. We treat all visitors consistently with this Privacy Policy regardless of any DNT signal.

11. Email Communications

We may send you transactional emails (such as account notices and responses to your inquiries) and, where permitted, promotional emails about features, content, or updates to the Service. Promotional emails include an unsubscribe link, and you may opt out at any time by clicking it or by contacting us. Even after you opt out of promotional emails, you will continue to receive transactional and administrative messages.

We may include software code or tracking technologies in promotional emails to monitor whether the email was opened, whether links were clicked, and the time of opening, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of our communications.

12. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to:

  • Provide the Service to you and other users;
  • Support customer service inquiries;
  • Develop new features and improve the Service;
  • Maintain the safety and security of the Service;
  • Comply with our legal and regulatory obligations and enforce our agreements.

When information is no longer needed, we will delete or anonymize it, except where retention is required or permitted by law.

13. How We Protect Your Information

We take what we believe to be commercially reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no security system is impenetrable and “perfect security” does not exist on the Internet. We cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us or that we maintain.

If you believe your personal information has been compromised through your use of the Service, please contact us immediately at https://www.therapytribe.com/contact-us/.

14. Data Breach Notification

If we determine that personal information has been compromised as a result of a breach of security, we will notify affected individuals as required by applicable law. For users with accounts (Listed Therapists and Community Members), notice will generally be sent by email to the address associated with the account. For visitors who do not have accounts, notice will generally be provided by conspicuous posting on the Service.

15. No Guarantees

While this Privacy Policy describes our standards for handling information and we work to meet them, we cannot guarantee these standards in all circumstances. Factors beyond our control may result in disclosure of information. We disclaim any warranties or representations relating to the maintenance or non-disclosure of information beyond what is required by law.

16. Third-Party Websites and Services

The Service may contain links to, or features provided by, third-party websites and services. Information you provide to those third parties is subject to their own privacy and security practices, not ours. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or policies of any third-party site or service. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third party before providing them with information.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version will always be posted at this URL with an updated “Effective Date” at the top. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice through the Service or, where we have an email address on file, by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
