Anxiety or Fears

Emma Hutchinson

Counsellor/Therapist, RCC, RSW, MSW
Anxiety is a normal part of the human experience but often it can eclipse our sense of well-being and ease of moving through the world. It can manifest in different areas of life for different people, for example in social situations or around work or school performance. Counselling can be very effective for people wanting to reduce the impact of anxiety on their lives. Counselling can include: -education to understand the purpose of anxiety and why it can become problematic -learning and practising evidence-based tools (for example, mindfulness skills) that loosen the grip anxiety may have on us -a deeper dive into what is at the roots of our worries, fears, and stressors -addressing the roots of the anxiety. These could relate to boundary-setting, self-esteem, the need for trauma processing, and self-care. I work collaboratively with clients and draw from a variety of models when working with anxiety-related issues including mindfulness-based knowledge and practices, deeper processing through Internal Family Systems and EMDR, and talk therapy approaches. Please feel free to reach out for a free consult if you'd like to connect, see the space, ask any questions you may have and see if working with me would feel like a good fit for you! riverpathcounselling.ca

Anxiety or Fears

Yamila Zimerman

Therapist, C.C.C., C-DBT
Anxiety can consist of feelings of nervousness, worry and feeling like you might be on edge. An individual with anxiety might be experiencing sleep issues, appetite changes, shaking, sweating, rapid heart rate, nausea or stomach issues, irritability, difficulty concentrating, feeling a sense of danger or doom, restlessness, rapid breathing, panic attacks, and difficulty controlling worries. You can experience anxiety without being diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and not all anxiety is bad. As human beings, we experience anxiety sometimes as a means of survival, but if you experience anxiety regularly, it might be helpful to look into managing these symptoms.

Aleksei Panov

Registered Psychotherapist, MA Psy, MS Psy, RP
For dealing with anxiety, first of all, I help my clients to manage their physical symptoms of anxiety and then they are able to take control of their bodies, secondly we try to identify automatic negative thoughts and learn how to deal with them and challenge them. It is okay to have anxiety, but you need to learn how to deal with it faster.
