Anger is a valid emotion however when used inappropriately such can have an impact on other or can result in inappropriate behaviors. I have experience in assisting individuals with learning anger management techniques. I assist with teaching the individual conflict resolution skills. and provide education to assist individuals regarding complex emotions. I also provide court ordered Anger Management Groups.
My approach to working with anger considers the emotions that are underneath, driving the anger out. I like to hear stories of how you were shown to work through difficulties, what emotions you were taught we acceptable, and when you learned that fight energy was the surest way to stay safe in a scary world. We'll practice different grounding skills and have opportunities for nurturing the Parts inside of you that are hiding, wounded, and reactive.
One can learn to manage their anger by learning skills to reduce initial reactions to triggers and understanding the connection between the feeling and the behavior.
