In my practice, I specialize in helping individuals navigate the complexities of depression, recognizing its profound impact on one's life, energy, and sense of well-being. Depression is more than just a feeling of sadness; it's an experience that can affect every aspect of your life, from how you think and feel to how you act. My approach is compassionate and tailored to your unique experiences, focusing on identifying the underlying causes of your depression and developing personalized strategies for coping and healing. Utilizing a combination of therapeutic techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and supportive counseling, we'll work together to help you rediscover joy, regain motivation, and build resilience against future challenges. Symptoms of depression are the smoke that alerts us to an underlying fire. You may have experienced a tragedy, or a traumatic event. Perhaps your relationship is triggering pain, your marriage is in trouble, or your child is suffering. You may notice a gradual decline in your sense of wellbeing, problems sleeping, changes in appetite, difficulty concentrating, body aches, a growing sense of hopelessness or feeling that things are out of control. Whatever is causing your distress, you don’t have to manage it alone. Together, we can find kindness and compassion, create a safe space for your feelings, better understand your needs, prioritize your self-care, and identify tools that will help you feel more empowered and hopeful again.

So, you are depressed. What does that mean to you? How do you define that? What does the weight of that depression feel like, and how does it influence you? There is no doubt that you have asked yourself these questions, perhaps alone or even aloud to someone else. I offer a supportive space where we can unpack these and other questions, as well as explore the structures beneath the depressive thoughts and feelings.
Many types of problems create depression, such as loss, grief, lack of romance in a relationship, lack of career and or relationship fulfillment, and so forth. Each problem is treated based on the symptoms presenting in therapy, with various types of treatment such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy, family systems theory, emotions focused couples therapy, mindfulness and acceptance therapy techniques. These types of problems can occur with individuals, couples and teens and all are treated according to current standards.
