Stress management is important to everyday functioning. At London Leaf Counseling, we explore best practice to promote relaxation and finding peace in the chaos.
I work with clients who struggle with Stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship or family issues. During our sessions, we will collaborate to create a plan for addressing them that helps you get your life back. I practice from a Holistic perspective and commonly employ EMDR and other effective modalities with helping clients achieve balance and purpose in their lives and creative solutions to their problems. This includes exploring past issues and trauma that may be a factor presently.
All of us have times when worries pile up, we face situations that seem impossible, and life feels out of control. There are proven ways of coping with stress and you don’t have to deal with it alone. Together, we will understand the stressors in your life. We will use evidence-based techniques to help you cope with the stress. By confronting your stress in a supportive environment, you can tap into your strengths and overcome the challenges in your life.
My approach to working with stress involves integrating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Somatic Experiencing (SE). ACT helps clients accept their stressors without judgment and commit to value-driven actions that promote resilience and well-being. EMDR is used to process and resolve traumatic or distressing experiences that may contribute to heightened stress, allowing clients to release their emotional hold. SE addresses the physiological impacts of stress, helping clients release stored tension and restore a sense of balance and calm. This comprehensive approach supports clients in managing stress more effectively, enhancing their emotional regulation, and improving overall quality of life.

In my therapy sessions, I often incorporate acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to help individuals manage stress by fostering acceptance of difficult emotions while guiding them towards actions aligned with their values. Utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), I assist clients in identifying and modifying negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to their stress, empowering them to develop healthier coping strategies. Additionally, I integrate culturally sensitive, person-centered, and relational approaches to acknowledge the unique cultural contexts and interpersonal dynamics that impact each client's experience of stress, facilitating a comprehensive and effective therapeutic process.
In my therapy sessions addressing stress, I often integrate elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop mindfulness skills and accept their emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations related to stress. Additionally, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to assist clients in identifying and challenging maladaptive thought patterns contributing to their stress, promoting healthier coping strategies and problem-solving skills. Drawing from Solution-Focused Brief Therapy principles, I collaborate with clients to set specific, achievable goals and explore practical solutions to reduce stressors and enhance their overall well-being.
