Couples tell me they felt as though their previous therapist took sides or that they were allowed to argue for the entire session and that by the end of the session they felt farther apart than when they started. For couples therapy to work both people need to know that they will be heard and understood and that the couples therapist will interrupt hurtful and unproductive patterns.
I am trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy which is a highly effective approach to helping couples to repair longstanding patterns of endless conflict, hurt and resentment, and painful disconnection.
I work with straight, same-sex, and genderqueer couples as well as with friends and siblings. k
