Treatment Approach
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
- Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
Approach Description: Dr. Severe provides couples therapy, individual therapy, and group therapy to adults of all ages from young adults through older adults. She conducts psychotherapy from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) orientation and couples therapy utilizing the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). She works with diverse couples to enhance their connection and communication and also provides pre-marital, divorce, marriage and relationship counseling services. She specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD management and communication skills. Dr. Severe offers support groups for coping with divorce and separation, relationship skills support and mindfulness skills.
