My younger clients usually make art more regularly, while my older clients often choose to do so more sporadically.
Trauma, both big and small, is an area that I'm incredibly passionate about, and brain research continues to grow supporting the benefits of the creative process which engages both mind and body to heal trauma. More than anything, I value the power of connection with my clients and believe that healing occurs within the context of trust and collaboration.
Therapy can sometimes be hard work, but my office (both physical and virtual) is a warm and supportive environment dedicated to self exploration, growth, and healing. I see therapy as a casual conversation with a purpose. That purpose is my supporting another through the different ways I can find the way to listen to someone’s narrative. When exploring with another person about their narrative, the therapy is not gained and learned in a straight line but a meandering one.
Therapy should not be alone about symptoms and diagnoses. Therapy and the process involves someone being supported about all problems no matter the shape, size, or the intensity of such problems.
People have an image or an idea of what therapy is, but therapy is about anything and everything. Therapy is about opportunities and possibilities. It’s not only about problems symptoms or trauma. Therapy is a tool used to connect a person to be able to share themselves their story their narrative. Therapy is what someone wants it to be.
