Brittany Rine

Licensed Mental Health Counselor, LMHCA
Welcome! I am thrilled that you are here and are considering getting the help that you need. I’m Brittany, Licensed Mental Health Counseling Associate. I received my MA in Clinical Mental Health from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington. The bulk of my clinical experience has been with women and children who have experienced various types of trauma. Now having transitioned into private practice, I work primarily with individuals who want to see improvements in regards to their self-esteem. You can find comfort in the fact that I have identified the work that is required of us to create a different reality for you from a personal and professional level. In this reality, you consider your feelings and needs, you have stopped the people pleasing, and you have the confidence that is required to achieve your dreams. Everyone’s journey through these struggles looks different, so ours won’t look the same, but we both have fought and are fighting the same battle. As you already know, the fight isn’t an easy one. There will be work required from the both of us. I have nothing but the utmost confidence in you that you can and will win this battle, and when you do you’ll see the strength that has always been inside of you.

When deciding to see a therapist, it can be extremely challenging to choose someone to work with. I hope to be there with you in therapy as you work to discover new levels self-understanding, compassion, and insight. Most individuals decide to start therapy after encountering emotional distress that has left them overwhelmed, and as though they have lost control of their life. I work collaboratively with my clients to find ways in which they are able to regain a sense of control, empowerment, and purpose in their lives. Important to our work will be the concept that our relationship, and the exploration of that relationship, will help you make discoveries about other important relationships in your life. Although this work can be challenging at times, it can lead to improvements in your social interactions, mood, and anxiety. While I have enjoyed working with a wide variety of individuals, I specialize in LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapy, ADHD, anxiety, depression, chronic shame, couples/relationship challenges, and non-traditional relationships. I am currently seeing new clients in my Dupont Circle office, and I look forward to answering any of your questions.

I am a clinical psychologist who has been in private practice for 5 years. Prior to private practice, I have worked in college counseling and community mental health centers working with individuals who present for therapy for a wide array of reasons. In addition to my private practice, I provide psychological evaluations to children who are looking for autism-specific treatment. Some areas of my interest are men's issues, anxiety, depression, and work within systems (families & couples).

It is often difficult to ask for support in the face of life’s challenges, and I appreciate you taking this step! I work with young adults and adults experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, life transitions, and identity and self-esteem concerns, among others. My goal is to create a comfortable and safe space where we work collaboratively to help you face those challenges and make the changes you desire to live a more fulfilling life. We all have vulnerabilities, and strengths we often don’t realize. I therefore work with my clients to build on their strengths and resilience, and develop self-compassion. I recognize the impact of culture on our identities and experiences and I have enjoyed working with clients from diverse backgrounds at outpatient, community mental health, and university counseling settings. These included the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Northwestern University, DePaul University and University of Illinois at Chicago. I welcome clients from all walks of life and feel humbled by their willingness to invite me to be a part of their journey.

One of my favorite questions is, "Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?" by Mary Oliver. I view therapy as a gift to yourself to create more meaningful experiences and develop resilience to overcome life's obstacles.
