I work closely with clients to explore the connection between body image and self esteem, assisting them to work towards self acceptance and positive self talk. Whether negative body image has resulted from negative talk from self or others, it is important to fight back against the mistreatment to rebuild a healthy perception of one's self.
Body image issues require a holistic approach. I help clients address their body image issues from a variety of different angles and determine the underlying causes behind the problems.
Lots of people don’t like their bodies. Maybe abuse or neglect created dissociation, an eating disorder or depression. Body distortions can happen for a variety of reasons, each needing a somewhat different approach. I’m also an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist.
