Bipolar Disorder presents many challenges for not only the individual living with the disorder but also for their loved ones. Allow me to provide support and education to you and your support system so you can gain the insight and awareness needed to reduce and minimize the cycling of moods.
For more than 20 yearsI have specialized in the treatment of mood disorders. I utilize a blend of psycho-education and mood regulation techniques to help those with a history of Bipolar I, Bipolar II or depression to find relief and stability in life.
When this is a presentation for our patients, we look to better understand what may be contributing to this. If this is something that wants to be addressed, and if so, how and when. Pacing is the key here.
We offer a DBT group that teaches dialectical behavioral therapy which helps clients learn tools for greater interpersonal effectiveness and coping skills and also offer individual therapy. Having bipolar disorder is a difficult challenge and has both the depression side as well as the mania. Working together with a medical doctor to regulate medications and learning to coping skills empowers the client. It’s important to identify historical causes of depression and ways to cope with anxiety and regulate sleep, nutrition, and lifestyle choices to help support a healthy brain are integral in finding balance with bipolar.
