Body image issues can present before, during and after an eating disorder has been treated. It is not uncommon for perfectionism leading to low self-esteem. These issues frequently present when the person has a history of Complex Trauma or gender identity issues. I have these patients followed by nutritionists who weigh them regularly to make their body weight maintained appropriately as well as making sure that healthy nutrition and appropriate exercise regimes are in place.
