Rachel W. Bush, Ph.D. Practice Description
I opened my private practice in 1991 in Darien, CT. I had just finished a two-year Fellowship at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. Between my dad being a Psychoanalyst and my brother being a Clinical Psychologist I feel that I began to learn about the healing professions at a young age. My oldest son will graduate from medical school in May and begin his residency in Psychiatry. I have always treated teenagers and adults. I like working effectively and efficiently. I enjoy collaborating with other colleagues to make sure that all of my patient's needs are being addressed. I am a creative person who likes solving problems in creative ways guided by evidence-based treatment. I have learned that the most robust predictor of clinical success comes from the quality of the relationship that I have developed with my patient and how deeply I have a relationship where I am trusted and valued. I am temperamentally a bit shy, formal and reserved when I begin. Over time we frequently find that laughter is the best medicine and that greater self-awareness leads to more satisfaction at work and in relationships with others. People come to treatment to heal and recover. I feel honored and privileged to be invited into people's inner worlds to be an empathic healer. Everyone's treatment is individually tailored to meet everyone's specific and unique needs. Psychotherapy is not a one-size-fits-all form of care. It is as much of a collaborative journey as we are partners working together to make sure that we achieve your treatment goals, My patients find me to be calm, relaxed, experienced, confident, and caring. You will have access to my cell phone to contact me if there is an emergency or if we need to reschedule our next appointment. If I am unavailable please call 911 or go to your local ER. I get paid at the time that services are rendered and I have a 48-hour cancellation policy. I provide an initial 15-minute free consultation so that we both think will be the best plan going forward. Feel free to call me so that I can be of immediate help. You don't have to go down this path alone. Even strong and resilient people can benefit from having an objective, neutral person to provide expertise and guidance.
