Equine Therapy can help individuals and families build confidence, self -efficiency, communication, trust, social skills, impulse control and learn healthy boundary setting. Horses are great therapists because they give immediate feedback. Research shows positive physical and psychological results from humans interacting with horses. These include, but are not limited to , decreased blood pressure and heart rate, lower levels of stress, reduced feelings of tension, anxiety, anger and hostility, as well as increased levels of beta-endorphins, and beneficial feelings of self -esteem, empowerment, patience and trust. Often clients experiencing anxiety and ocd have difficulty relating to other human beings, and will not accept closeness with another, but they will with horses. There is a bond that develops over time with equine - assisted therapy that is profound and natural . This bond helps with affection, assertiveness, confidence , empathy,self-control, responsibility, unconditional acceptance. This type of therapy is experiential and provides opportunities for metaphorical learning. Using metaphors , either in activities or discussion, is an effective technique for working with individuals. Non-verbal communication with a Horse helps clients better understand themselves and how they relate with others in the world. Equine-assisted therapy is psychodrama, which allows action to help heal the past, clarify the situation in the present, and help you envision a brighter future.

**IN-PERSON SESSIONS NOW AVAILABLE**
I believe that therapy should be approachable and accessible and often describe my style as, "not your mother's therapist".
Sessions will focus on understanding how the events of your life have created a roadmap for how you view yourself, others, and the world. Therapy will allow you to redraw your map, repair the potholes, and create healthy relationships.
This exploration, along with new coping strategies, communication skills, and emotional regulation will allow you to experience short-term relief and make long-term changes.

Relationships have an interesting way of bringing hidden wounds, unmet needs, and personal blindspots to the surface.
Challenging relationship dynamics can be pointing us to where we need to heal and grow either individually or as a couple. If you're interested in a mindfulness-based approach to healing and developing a conscious connection with your partner, let's talk.

Jane Husak
Registered Psychotherapist, BA, YTT, RP, CRPO
My approach is relational and experiential. I consider our therapeutic relationship to be a the centre of our work together. Through building trust and a safe space, we will be able to explore more deeply the areas in your life that are causing suffering. I believe there is a strength in our ability to be vulnerable and to feel deeply. Together we will work with the feelings that may be stuck or hidden, and how to integrate them as part of your whole human experience.
