Do you feel overwhelmed in social situations or when you have to "perform" in some fashion? Social anxiety is a common affliction. You may have been told when you were young that you were "shy" or "too sensitive". The reality is that 20% of people are born "Highly Sensitive People", a biological trait, and that there is nothing inherently wrong with being sensitive, but our culture belittles the trait and makes us feel wrong for it. This social shaming of being sensitive compounds the real and legitimate challenges of being highly sensitive and interacting socially. Our nervous systems are more easily stimulated (and sometimes overwhelmed) by the social and physical environment. So, our work together will include helping you reclaim your true strengths and self-worth, learning to calm your anxiety when it rises, and helping you understand your tendency to be over-stimulated as an inherent trait that needs to be honored, and that comes as a package with some other wonderful gifts that we will illuminate. Nature can be a great resource for calming and connection that we will also use as we move together toward a more empowered vision of your social capacities.
