Are you struggling with feelings of loss, grief and loneliness after the death of a family member or friend? I have been a bereavement professional since 2008 - initially as a trained volunteer for Cruse Bereavement Care, providing one-to-one support and client assessments. I can offer a safe and supportive environment to explore your sense of personal loss, express your feelings and emotions, reflect on the relationship you had together (or hoped for), share or create memories and find your sense of coping. I can support you with recent or past loss, including circumstances such as bereavement through sudden death or suicide, loss to Cancer or Covid, experiencing multiple losses, being a bereaved carer, parent or sibling loss and partner or child loss. I have also received specialist training in baby loss, including the sensitive issues surrounding miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal loss and sudden infant loss. If you'd like to explore bereavement counselling together, please get in touch with me to arrange a low-cost consultation.

Loss and Grief are part and parcel of the human condition, personal and collective. However, when they come knocking our plans and expectations of a ‘normal’ life can go out of the window. How can we learn to be with this difficult guest? Francis Weller writes: “Grief is more than an emotion; it is also a faculty of being human. It is a skill that must be developed, or we will find ourselves migrating to the margins of our lives in hopes of avoiding the inevitable entanglements with loss. It is through the rites of grief that we are ripened as human beings. Grief invites gravity and depth into our world. We possess the profound capacity to metabolize sorrow into something medicinal for our soul and the soul of the community”. This requires that we are acknowledged and held, just as we hold and acknowledge those who we have lost.
