Peter Dutton

Registered Psychotherapist, Psychotherapist, Life Coach, Sports Performance Psychologist. Registered BACP Member
I am an experienced Psychotherapist, Sports Performance Psychologist, and High Performance coach, working with individuals who want to perform, lead, and live at a higher level while protecting their wellbeing. My work spans high-performing environments, including professional athletes performing at the highest level, CEOs, Founders, MDs, and individuals navigating pressure, transition, and identity challenges. I support clients to strengthen focus, confidence, emotional regulation, and decision-making, particularly in moments where performance, responsibility, and personal life intersect. Alongside performance work, I have a strong background in working with couples, helping partners improve communication, rebuild trust, deepen emotional connection, and navigate conflict more effectively. I believe strong relationships are a foundation for both personal wellbeing and professional performance. I have extensive experience supporting adolescents, adults, and couples with anxiety, stress, overthinking, panic, addiction, low confidence, relationship difficulties, loss, and major life transitions. This dual perspective allows me to work not just on surface performance, but on the underlying psychological patterns that sustain long-term success and resilience.

Treatment Approach

  • Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
Approach Description: My approach is calm, grounded, and practical. I offer a confidential, supportive space where complex issues can be explored safely, while also providing clear psychological insight and actionable strategies. Years of experience working with people under pressure have shaped my understanding of how mindset, emotion, identity, and behaviour interact. I work Integratively drawing from psychotherapy, CBT, sports psychology, mindset coaching, walking therapy, and creative approaches, adapting the work to suit how you feel most comfortable engaging. Sessions are available face to face or online. My approach is calm, grounded, and practical.
