Are you feeling impacted by the effects of domestic abuse, such as the abuse you experienced or witnessed by a family member or ex-partner? Surviving any form of domestic abuse (coercive control, psychological, emotional, physical and sexual abuse) can shatter trust and self-esteem. Troubling memories, feelings, and emotions can surface and persist despite any joy or relief associated with fleeing or detaching from the relationship. I can offer an environment where you can feel safe, supported and empowered and find your sense of healing. By working together at your pace, you can gently process what has happened to you and move forward with increased confidence, trust and self-esteem. If you'd like to explore counselling together, please get in touch with me to arrange a low-cost consultation.

Domestic abuse and Violence are not acceptable. Such episode usually need to be reported and investigated and there will need to be some healing for the victims and perpetrators. The victims will need to work through their trauma and the perpetrators will need to lean better ways of dealing with their unbearable emotions and aggression. Addiction issues will need to be addressed through the appropriate organisations that can support the Addict.

Domestic Abuse or Violence

John Castleford

Registered Psychotherapist, MA, mARCHTI
It's unlikely any therapist can stop others from being abusive or violent. But I can help you develop effective strategies for re-building your sense of self-worth, which may have plummeted. I can help you defuse potentially threatening situations, for example, suggesting phrases that can't be turned against you; developing inner resilience and strategies to get you away from abusive, violent or toxic situations. I can also help signpost you to specialist support agencies. You may feel alone but you most certainly are not. And if you have extricated yourself and feel guilty, I can also offer help with that.

Toronto, Ontario therapist: Gui Mansilla, registered psychotherapist
Domestic Abuse or Violence

Gui Mansilla

Registered Psychotherapist, Lawyer (Arg) M.Div (USA) Reg. Psychotherapist (CA) Coach (Ca)
From my earliest years, a deep-seated commitment to justice took root in me, sparked by the passion of a Harvard-educated lawyer portrayed by Barry Newman in the television series Petrocelli. This attorney, forsaking the allure of Wall Street wealth, dedicated himself to serving the voiceless and underserved, often for a symbolic one-dollar fee. This childhood inspiration propelled me to pursue a legal career at the University of Buenos Aires to become a criminal lawyer at the age of 22. Although my professional journey led me through roles as an actor and ordained minister, culminating in my current roles as a psychotherapist and coach, I never strayed from my passion to protect the innocent and champion justice whenever needed. Over the last few decades, I have intentionally immersed myself in the realm of domestic violence and abuse, driven by a conviction that, while understanding the roots of such actions in the trauma and pain of the perpetrators, we must stand firm to halt the cycle of violence and protect the victims. Though navigating this work while victims are still ensnared within the power dynamics of abuse is delicate and perilous, it brings extraordinary fulfillment to assist someone in breaking free. In rare cases, I've had the privilege of aiding abusers in turning their lives around. Given my background as a criminal lawyer, minister, and specialized psychotherapist, it is my profound honour to support those in need, guiding them to break free from the grips of abuse and use their traumatic experiences as a catapult toward a life of fulfillment, freedom, and empowerment. The journey from victimization to liberation is undoubtedly treacherous and delicate, yet it stands as one of the most fulfilling paths one can take when breaking free from any form of abuse or violence. Please don't hesitate to reach out, knowing that I stand ready to be in your corner, offering suggestions and guidance on how to avoid further harm and, ultimately, emerge free from the shackles of abuse or violence.
