Meandering to Change, LLC
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Hello,
I see therapy as a casual conversation with a purpose. That purpose is my supporting another through the different ways I can find the way to listen to someone’s narrative. When exploring with another person about their narrative, the therapy is not gained and learned in a straight line but a meandering one.
Therapy should not be alone about symptoms and diagnoses. Therapy and the process involves someone being supported about all problems no matter the shape, size, or the intensity of such problems.
People have an image or an idea of what therapy is, but therapy is about anything and everything. Therapy is about opportunities and possibilities. It’s not only about problems symptoms or trauma. Therapy is a tool used to connect a person to be able to share themselves their story their narrative. Therapy is what someone wants it to be.

Change can be hard, brutal, and ugly, especially when trying to go it alone. Change is something that is easier said than done. We all get to various points in our lives when we must make that change in order to evolve from the feelings and/or situations that we need to transition from.
My goal is to support you while navigating those changes in your life in a safe and nurturing therapeutic relationship where you can gain the skills needed to reach your mental wellness goals. I believe that YOU are the expert in your life. I am simply here to offer insight and to help guide you to the answers that reside within.
I am an educator, a therapist, and a certified Parent Coach with a specialization in children and families. I have over 20 years of experience working in a variety of settings with a diverse mix of needs which include, speaking fluent teen lol (adolescent therapy), parenting skills, helping separated couples co-parent, family systems, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and defiant behaviors.
We all have challenges that we need to get through. My approach is compassionate, non-judgmental, open, and honest. I believe that the best work is done in a trusting and nurturing relationship. Megan Shurtleff
Counselor/Therapist, LSW
My clinical experience includes working with individuals and groups experiencing anxiety (generalized,
OCD, PTSD), depression, bipolar disorder, substance use disorder, attachment-related issues,
adjustment issues, and grief. I have worked with various populations across different settings including
working with adolescents in a community program, dual diagnosis clinical setting, and in crisis
intervention in a hospital setting.
Using a strengths-based and client-centered approach to therapy, I work collaboratively with clients to
address their current difficulties by identifying root causes and individualized goals for change. My goal
is to empower individuals to create a pathway to achieving these goals by developing and
implementing strategies and coping skills that can best help them achieve lasting and meaningful
changes on their terms.
I am a licensed LSW in NJ, working toward LCSW licensure. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in both
Psychology and Anthropology, and my Masters of Social Work from Binghamton University. I utilize an
eclectic approach to therapy, allowing therapeutic experience to be adapted to best suit each
individual’s needs and circumstances. I provide a warm, open, and nonjudgmental space to work
through the change process. Modalities I use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical
Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Attachment-Based Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational
Interviewing, and Person-Centered Therapy.

Just being a human is challenging. A therapeutic relationship is one that creates a safe space to reflect on who you are and what you experience, learn to relate to those experiences differently, and empowers you to make choices about how you want to be. My work is to support you, build awareness and understanding, and ultimately to help guide you towards living a full, vital, and connected life - as you define it.
