Parenting has become a very complex skill in today's postmodern culture. I utilize a combination of psychoeducational therapy and parental coaching in my therapeutic approach. At the core, parental skill development is a highly contextual experience that incorporates thorough family systems assessment. I also take into account a plethora of multicultural variables before embarking on a treatment plan.
Parenting is a challenge for sure. Striving to be a better parent and learning what our children need from us can be overwhelming at times. Gain the support you need to help your kids.
You do not have to be a "perfect" parent; what about a "perfect enough" parent? Generally you do the best you can with what you know AND you also know you can learn more to be even better at parenting. You worry they will be "messed up" but there is one major thing research shows that can help us to raise emotionally healthy children: repair. Parents have said what I teach them is a game changer and has given them hope and focus so they don't feel overwhelmed with all the advice out there. I also help parents save money and time by teaching them to do therapeutic play interventions with their children. The relationship with you is lifelong and worth the investment. Generally, I work with parents of kids under 8 yo.
