From not wanting to attend family gatherings, to friends' parties to work events, social anxiety can be quite pervasive and isolating. As humans we are wired for connection and clients who suffer from social anxiety can find it hard to obtain the very connection they seek. I work with clients to understand the origins of their social anxiety and unpack its purpose in the client's life to date. I work collaboratively with the client to discover how we can shift these patterns of thinking and interacting with other to help them to regulate their anxiety and accompanying emotions better, thus, supporting them in seeking connection with others.

Social anxiety has it's root in a lack self-love. When we are not consciously and/or unconsciously comfortable with ourselves, we are immediately fearful of rejection from the people around us. This results in a heightened arousal of the nervous system to prepare for rejection, judgement, and failure.

Social anxiety may be a problem for people who are otherwise successful particularly in their working lives. I try to help people understand this problem in the context of a lack of self esteem. I try to help them with what may become an avoidance of social situations which narrows their lives.

Social anxiety isolates us. It's about feeling fearful of going out into the world and being you; fearful of negative judgement and lacking a sense of belonging and feeling safe in a social environment, which we all need to thrive. I work with clients who are socially anxious to help them understand their anxiety and what they can do to work with it and build a stronger connection to themselves and others.
Social anxiety can be triggered by interactions at work, social events, or even everyday conversations with acquaintances, colleagues, friends, or family members. Together, we'll explore that side of you that feels anxious in social situations and find ways to navigate it. By working with your mind-body response patterns, we can bring about healing, change, and a greater sense of ease in relationships.
