Haverford, Pennsylvania therapist: Philadelphia Art Therapy Associates, art therapist

Philadelphia Art Therapy Associates

Art Therapist, MA, ATR-BC, LPC
We discovered how to create our usual safe, trusting, and creative in-person therapy experience online. We know that you may have "Zoom Fatigue" because work, education, and socialization moved that direction during the pandemic. Our creative therapists bring energy and engagement, adding in physical movement as needed to enliven sessions. We brainstorm with you for creative ways to use household items and art materials you may have on hand to spark interaction and get the process moving. Fortunately, the very nature of art therapy involves time spent "making things" and then communicating about them. This means that you can do powerful therapy through the magic of video sessions with us. In-person or virtually, we can connect with anyone and form productive relationships and therapy processes!

With technology, you can experience all the benefits of in-person therapy on secure, easy-to-use, high-quality internet platforms. Online sessions allow you to do therapy in the comfort of your own home or allow you flexibility in environments that best suit you. It can be especially helpful to those who find it challenging to travel to an office for appointments due to location, work, children at home, lifestyle, or other practical or personal reasons. While there are multiple ways that counseling can take place online, I work primarily with face-to-face video conferencing via Zoom and, on occasion, telephone sessions. I always hold my sessions in a quiet and confidential space, giving you the same confidentiality & professionalism that you experience within an office setting. Most, if not all, of my clients, find virtual sessions to be highly effective and convenient. They allow for the comfort and safety of therapy in your own space, and no travel time is often less vulnerable than needing to go to an office. Research of multiple studies finds that online therapy is equally effective as in-person for most cases. That being said I always advocate for what works best for each individual and it is wonderful to have choices to find your best path whichever that may be. If you are not super-computer savvy or are anxious about how to use technology, I will work to make it as seamless as possible. I have chosen a platform that is easy to use and I am happy to assist you with any questions or concerns. A common concern I hear from clients regarding online therapy is finding a quiet and/or confidential space when you’re homebound with children and/or family members or roommates. Be sure and scope this out in advance so you are guaranteed quiet and privacy during your session. Since it is so convenient many times people forget to allow themselves a few minutes to "switch hats" and allow themselves a few breaths and get settled into being present and in the head/body space for your session. Headphones or Airpods can often make audio clearer or ensure more privacy but are not necessary. Given that video sessions can be conducted on your smartphone, clients have found it helpful to go to a park, sit in their car in the driveway, and/or walk around your neighborhood. Get creative and support yourself. Find a private space that allows you to receive support no matter where you are. You are welcome to have pets join your space if you find that comforting, and supporting, and you may see my fellow feline/canine therapists join in one of our sessions on my end.

Abington, Pennsylvania therapist: HUGH R STEWART III, hypnotherapist

HUGH R STEWART III

Hypnotherapist, Ph.D., ACHt.
I only do partner and coaching sessions online. Emotional release work has to be done in person. Coaching can be done individually online as long as you have done significant personal growth and emotional release work on yourself. If I find you have blockages from your past, we will need to do those sessions in person for emotional release, breathwork, or hypnotherapy. I teach the Imago communication technique online with partners whether you are monogamous or non monogamous with your partner. Each learns how to request and deliver feedback, communicate one at a time with the other to mirror, validate, and empathize with what is being said, and listen effectively without formulating a response while the other person is talking. The most important aspect is being able to get into the other persons world of perceptions and experiences without being jaded by our own past triggers and experiences.
