Below is a list of therapists offering online sessions in California
Kate Merrill Evans
Marriage and Family Therapist, MA, LMFT
I never thought I'd want to offer online therapy, but being forced to in 2020 has opened my eyes to it's potential. It's not right for everyone, but for those who appreciate the flexibility and accessibility it offers, it's been a game-changer. There are risks, however, such as technology and other connectivity issues and the potential for breaches of privacy. We will go through the risks and benefits in determining whether working with me online is a good fit for you.
5 Years Experience
Sean Sprigle
Licensed Professional Counselor, LPCC
I have converted my entire practice to online only and have found that it has not impeded my ability to execute effective therapeutic technique in any way. I can still use EMDR and all of the other modalities I have used previously. I encourage you to give online a try with me even if you are nervous to do so!

Melanie Goetz
Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT
Meeting online allows you to choose the safest and most comforting environment to you, and, the time when your brain and body are most available for deeper, emotional work. I'll get to know your space, your language, and your stories, and together we'll grow to use your choice of environment and tools as resources for our therapeutic work. While I can't welcome you into an office with a handshake, we're able to meet from our independent spaces with eye contact and genuine expressions of connection. We're still able to effectively use an integrative approach using body-oriented and cognitive techniques in therapy, including: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocess (EMDR) and Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning Experience (DARe), an attachment-based approach to Somatic Experiencing.

Davene, Fecteau
Licensed Professional Counselor, MS, LPCC
I meet with clients online through video sessions. Through the comfort of their own home or a safe space, I am able to engage with clients and help them access deep healing within themselves. With the client being the expert on their own internal experience, I assist them in building resources that they can utilize outside of sessions. The techniques I utilize go beyond talk therapy and focus on somatic sensations within the body, breathing techniques, parts work, and attachment. I have training in EMDR, the Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM), and am informed in the Internal Family Systems Model (IFS).

Susan Stone
Marriage and Family Therapist, M.A., Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
I work with adults from every walk of life and in diverse circumstances. The common thread: things don't feel manageable anymore. Life has gotten out of hand, and feelings like anxiety, self-doubt, depression, and disappointment seem to be taking over – if they haven’t already. Some might think they are “going crazy!” Others feel selfish because they crave self-care and a break from never being enough.
My job (and privilege) is to come alongside you to provide support, feedback, and help you better understand things and make plans to improve things. Sometimes, I will validate feelings that you’ve discounted or point out challenges you’ve grown so accustomed to that you brush them aside, even though they are part of what trips you up. Together, we’ll gain perspectives and insights about how to make things better.
Sessions will be via telehealth (live video). While it can take a little getting used to for those accustomed to in-person sessions, the ease of access and being in a space that is familiar and comfortable goes a long way to make up for the distance. Many find that having ready access to their online notes and journals, screen sharing, and the ability to look up information together in session provides extra benefits. As for rapport and connectedness, video therapy doesn’t need to impede these critical features of the therapeutic relationship.
In session, we will review the week for clues about what to focus on. We will talk about how things went and how they could have turned out better. I’ll ask many questions, listen a lot, and work with you to identify options for improving life. You’ll tear up sometimes, but you’ll be surprised how often we chuckle.

Elaine Barrington
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
I continue to see the majority of my clients online due to the pandemic. Many clients have stated their preference for an online platform finding it much easier to make therapy a part of their weekly schedule without the added consideration of traffic, child care, or other preparation. A number of clients live a good distance away as well and will remain online clients even when the pandemic is over. I find online therapy equally effective as in person and have had good outcomes with clients online.

The relationship between the therapist and the client is the most important factor in the "success" of therapy. Meeting online gives us the opportunity to develop a trusting relationship no matter where you live or what your preference is about how to meet. I work with both individuals and couples. Some of the issues I help with are depression, anxiety, grief, substance use, trust and communication. I am an LGBTQ+ ally, kink and poly friendly.

Therapy as a practice has never been about the pursuit of individual perfection. Instead, therapy is a journey in accepting our imperfections, championing our strengths, and realizing that we are not the sum of the worst things we have experienced or have done in life. You are worthy of grace. You are intrinsically valuable. And you are worthy of a life fulfilled.
