We personalize your treatment based on your unique needs. Our clinicians are LGBTQ+ allied and some are openly in the LGBTQ+ community. Some support groups are also available for the LGBTQ+ community.
Together, we will work to uncover the root causes behind your thoughts and feelings and provide you with concrete, practical tools you can use to combat overwhelming emotions.
Things can get better when you work with a therapist. We will help you develop insight into your thinking patterns to eliminate critical thoughts and promote a positive mindset.
For forty years as a respected and trusted psychologist in the Queens and New York regions, Dr. Joel Stukalin has provided quality couples counseling, marriage counseling and individual psychotherapy and psychoanalysis to his clients from many cultures, religions and ethnicities.

Not only do you have a soul, you are SOUL. You are the LIGHT WITHIN, shining through the prism known as the self!
What is the LIGHT WITHIN trying to tell you? My role is to help you listen, the first step toward greater freedom.
We believe that the counseling environment should be a safe space where clients are able to be their authentic selves, while expressing complete vulnerability.
As an LGBTQ allied person I open my practice to all gender identities and sexual orientations. I believe your identity is both valid and should be valued and supported. I have experience working with people of all gender identities and experience working with transgender youth. I also understand the complexities and potential for high risk given different social and cultural issues that this population has to deal with and am sensitive to their impacts on the mental health of the individual.
As an LGBTQ therapist, I pay special attention to the age and circumstances surrounding self-discovery and the coming-out processes because it can greatly impact how an individual feels about the world. Many LGBTQ people have grown up with a stigmatized identity, and have had more developmental tasks to negotiate.
