Asking for help is challenging enough, and I believe that the online format removes some of the other stressors normally associated with beginning therapy. One of the most important "ingredients" for success in therapy is feeling comfortable in the therapy setting. With online therapy, clients enjoy the convenience of meeting with me from wherever they feel most comfortable. Online therapy also eliminates the need for a commute to an office or sitting in a waiting area. With some of the stress eliminated, we can really get to work!

With technology, you can experience all the benefits of in-person therapy on secure, easy-to-use, high-quality internet platforms. Online sessions allow you to do therapy in the comfort of your own home or allow you flexibility in environments that best suit you. It can be especially helpful to those who find it challenging to travel to an office for appointments due to location, work, children at home, lifestyle, or other practical or personal reasons. While there are multiple ways that counseling can take place online, I work primarily with face-to-face video conferencing via Zoom and, on occasion, telephone sessions. I always hold my sessions in a quiet and confidential space, giving you the same confidentiality & professionalism that you experience within an office setting. Most, if not all, of my clients, find virtual sessions to be highly effective and convenient. They allow for the comfort and safety of therapy in your own space, and no travel time is often less vulnerable than needing to go to an office. Research of multiple studies finds that online therapy is equally effective as in-person for most cases. That being said I always advocate for what works best for each individual and it is wonderful to have choices to find your best path whichever that may be. If you are not super-computer savvy or are anxious about how to use technology, I will work to make it as seamless as possible. I have chosen a platform that is easy to use and I am happy to assist you with any questions or concerns. A common concern I hear from clients regarding online therapy is finding a quiet and/or confidential space when you’re homebound with children and/or family members or roommates. Be sure and scope this out in advance so you are guaranteed quiet and privacy during your session. Since it is so convenient many times people forget to allow themselves a few minutes to "switch hats" and allow themselves a few breaths and get settled into being present and in the head/body space for your session. Headphones or Airpods can often make audio clearer or ensure more privacy but are not necessary. Given that video sessions can be conducted on your smartphone, clients have found it helpful to go to a park, sit in their car in the driveway, and/or walk around your neighborhood. Get creative and support yourself. Find a private space that allows you to receive support no matter where you are. You are welcome to have pets join your space if you find that comforting, and supporting, and you may see my fellow feline/canine therapists join in one of our sessions on my end.

Charlotte, North Carolina therapist: Brianna Headen, professional christian counselor

Brianna Headen

Professional Christian Counselor, Board Certified Pastoral Counselor, Board Certified Life & Purpose Coach,
My name is Brianna Headen, and I'm a Soul Care Practitioner and Certified Purpose Life Coach with a heart for women. I facilitate an atmosphere that is conducive to helping women discover their true identities and live their best lives on purpose and with purpose. I believe that one cannot live or have an abundant life if one's soul is wounded with past hurts and riddled with shame, guilt, and/or fears. I believe that without knowing your identity it truly hinders one from freedom of living authentically. In each session, we take the time to peel back the layers of your life and dig to the root of why you are and why you move, think, react, and perceive things the way you do. We unpack what has kept you wounded and as a victim. Each session moves you closer to victory, wholeness, and a life filled with purpose and abundant living. In addition to being a Pastor with a Masters in Christian Counseling, I am a Chaplain, a Certified Advanced Christian Life Coach, Mental Health Coach, and a Board-Certified Pastoral Counselor with a strong Christian worldview that is firmly rooted in God's Word and personal life experiences. I have worked in some area of mental health for over twenty-five years and am honored to have served some of the bravest people I will ever know. I'd like to help you identify and reach your personal emotional wellness goals using Christ as our compass. *Please Take Note* I DO NOT ACCEPT INSURANCE
